Empower promotes mental and physical wellbeing for Women aged 30+. Launched in September 2022, the aim of this project is to empower women in our local community, through football. Empower aims to improve confidence and fitness and cultivate camaraderie and improved relationships.
Sign me upWe welcome women from all faiths and backgrounds and all levels of fitness and ability. No football experience is necessary. Sessions are provided free of charge.
We deliver 2 sessions, every week, 50 weeks/year. One on Saturday afternoons at the Cottonmill Community and Cycling Centre and another at Cotlandswick on Thursday evenings.
Each session is led by female FA qualified Coaches and we have 100 Women from different backgrounds who have taken part since September 2022.
We have been featured in a best selling book, The Homecoming: The Lionesses and Beyond, (author attends our Saturday Session) and also run a number of social events/outings including: - Former Arsenal and Australia goalkeeper Lydia Williams and former Australia player, Alicia Ferguson meet in person. - Visit from Herts FA Coaches to talk about coaching opportunities for women. - Trip to the Emirates Stadium to watch Arsenal Women play in the quarter finals, semi finals. - Trip to watch Arsenal Women at Borehamwood and meet the players. - Screenings of various women's games at the Cottonmill Community Centre.
